I did most of this stuff very quickly and will (if it remains online which I hope it will!) be going back. Since I learn by trying I tended to go right into the very basic part of the assignment -- also because I had very little time.
Thought it was great to have all the resources consolidated. Now I need to go back and do the reading.
Thanks for having this! Hope it remains accessible for awhile.

Thing 22
I plan to keep up by going back over the material and SLOWLY try some of the sites! Obviously just getting started.
Thing 21
Signed up for the 23 things. A little difficulty posting picture -- did one with two small resolution.
Thing 20
Opened a Facebook account and managed to obtain 5 friends vs. the usual 360. I had joined one silly group and a very broad network. A little concerned about privacy (although I know you can change your settings, etc.). Our library has it. Keep finding new ways to personalize it.
Thing 19
Did the bloglines thing with the RSS feed for song of the day from MPR. That will get me started.
Thing 17
Went in and set up the accounts. Will have to save the rest for after the course. I'm definitely doing "23 things light" but getting what I need out of it -- places to start.
Thing 15
Pirate Thing either needed an install which I couldn't do at this library or it was too slow to load. Read some Second Life stuff and find it fascinating. Did not sign up because I have enough going on with the 7 of the 9 lives I've already used. The Pew study is interesting as was the article debunking myths about video games (especially the ones about girls and games). At a recent holiday get-together, instead of all of the males and females playing games like Risk (which we've done in the past) at one point some of the college age males and females were playing Webkinz.
Thing 14
Very interesting. Did a Library Thing. Am a little confused about where this will show up on blog. Anyway, here is my test
Thing 13
LOVED the PDF converter. Myyahoo preferences wasn't working in Explorer, but was in Firefox for some reason. Might have been coincidence. Will spend some time on the conversion stuff for times I'm not at the library which has conversions software.
Thing 12
Oh my gosh. More ways to spend time and communicate and search. I found out that baby boomers will flood the health care system. Also that there's a "new form of scar-free surgery in which diseased organs are pulled out through the patient’s throat" which may be a good thing since we boomers are notoriously vain -- if we can get treatment and cost-effective healthcare. Seriously, this rating of news reports is a great way to check out what's happening in society.
Thing 11
Did some tagging in blogger (had done so in flickr). Couldn't install http://del.icio.us/) on work computer, but may try it at home. Enjoyed looking at minn23's favorites which somehow diverted me to Youtube text messaging a librarian . How forunate that the answer to this texted question was such a short one! I now know how to spend the rest of my life: Youtube.
Thing 10
Edited the wiki. As always figuring out the password was key. Reading too fast as I try to get through these at the last minute. Fun! Someone was using the wiki (or had left it open) so was unable to get in until the 5 minutes was up. Hope I didn't mess up someone else's editing. Exciting to me that you can add video and chat.
Thing 9
Well, this is good for discovering what accounts I've already opened -- Googledocs account a few years ago. Looks very useful for collaboration. Am in a writer's group and it might be kind of fun to do a collaborative story.
Thing 7
Didn't sign up for any meetings but know they are there now. Fascinated by all that is available otherwise.

Thing 4
Did Thing 4 with the earlier women with big hats photo, etc. Have used the flickr account frequently since I set it up.
Thing 3
Set up bloglines and was especially interested in the MINITEX and librarian blogs. Could see lots of uses for feeds internal and external.
Thing 2
OK. Fascinating. Evident that there is big change -- big psychological change in the world at large -- collective authority and self-correction, identity online vs. real world merging -- private public merging, same with libraries. Onward.

Stick 4 or Women with great outfits: Alice Breen, Grace Moonan Castor
I have a flickr account and am testing using flickr to blog ('tis a verb as well as a noun) this photo. Will have to figure out which thing on a stick requirement this fulfills.
I've been working with creating sets and uploading.
These are part of my genealogy photos, second in interest to general web users to the pictures of cats and items on my desk. Yes, I do need better content, but I'm learning! I will return to RSS feeds soon.

Thing one setting up a blog complete
Upon re-reading the directions, I realize that some gravity and serious thought seems to be called for.
"Each blog post must describe which Thing you have completed (remember to put that in the post title, too)--done.
what your experience was learning about it--easy, hard, impossible--ideas how you can use this in your library or media center or in other areas -- experience not so hard, but I don't know if I would have been able to do this entirely on my own if I hadn't already had the experience. --done.
Ideas I can use -- I'm primarily interested in doing this so so I could help library users so any additional stuff is of use!

Stick 1 Half-done
This post is still part of 1 on a stick, but I may be forced offtrack by my cat. My daughter wants us to create facebooks for our respective cats. If I'm going to do it, it is imperative for it to be soon since Doyle will be 21 years old in June. Well, at least I can practice by uploading his picture and linking to one of the web sites where you can do this http://www.unitedcats.com/
I am particularly concerned about the popular cats page. Are these "mean girl" equivalent cats? Was going to try to post a photo, couldn't find it on my flashdrive so went to a flickr account I just set up. Evidently I can get the photo from there to this blog but didn't have time to read it because the library opens in about 10 minutes. Will try to save it and upload it.

Ohno2pt0
Starting this blog as part of a learn 2.0 self-learning class "23 Things on a Stick." I'd forgotten I had set up a quick blog here in late 2006 and posted a few genenealogy photos on it, so had to do some repair.
Decided to do the 23 stick thing on a whim while in between "chat ref" questions and customers and helping people print and set up an email accounts etc., etc. The instructor is finding "wierd blogs" and suggests we read the directions. Quelle surprise! I am very fond of the photo of the things on the top of my desk and since it was stored where I could get it at the time, I posted it.
